Ranch Hands for sale

Post by dalek »

Since there is a thread for the Rossi 92, why not one showing where someone saw them for sale?

The Mosin Crate currently has a few for sale in 45LC: https://www.themosincrate.com/shop-1

Ok, don't see ANYTHING there about Ranch Hands or any Rossi's at all.

I snagged one of 5 that appeared at my distributor. In a day they were gone. Appears that less than 2500 have been made (if serial number started at even number) and no telling how many of those made it to the US. I expect just a few. (Rossi in 38/357 BTW) None of my distributors have stock on any levers.

I don't think so. There are roughly 100 NIB 92 on Gunbroker, but not one a Ranch Hand.

...and dealers will post the same gun in more than one listing to make it look like their item has more interest.

Never thought about that. Almost all the listings are Davidson dealers.

I guess that means the two in 44Mag I saw a couple of weeks ago are gone. But, I do agree: the absolutely majority is M92s

UPDATE: Nevermind. As of right now, there are 9 ranch hands, one in 45LC and 8 in 44Mag. One of the latter is from NY (seller said it is new but illegal over there so he is selling) and currently going for $389. I will not post auction numbers but this one has "RH92" on the title. With more than a week to go I doubt it will got for less than $400. The ones going for $500 have no bites right now.

But what happens if it is bought in two distinct listings? Sales fraud time?

The chances of two selling at the same time are nil. They put variable but high Buy It Now prices and stagger the end times. When an auction times out as a sale or someone uses BIN, they take the other ads down.

Ever wonder why the sellers write "We reserve the right to end the auction on this item at any time."? It's not for "in store sales". Sometimes the same seller will have multiple seller accounts (names). Look for more than one seller in the same town and also look for vague seller locations such as Location: USA. Some sellers open accounts and sit on them unused for years so when it's time to rotate a new seller name into use it says "Member since 1999" or "Joined 2003" instead of 2019, etc.

These are bigger problems on eBay but they happen on all online auction sites.
