Just bought a Rossi Ranch Hand Case Hardened in 45 Colt

Post by Aircop »

I was wondering if anyone has purchased the case hardened version of this Mares Leg. If I need to slick up the trigger and the handgun itself what would you request to be the best way to go?
Thank you for your input.

I agree as the Ranch Hand looks pretty much like a shortened 92 to me though I've not really done more than handle one. I have a 92 with case hardened finish and noting required will effect the finish as all polishing is internal. I do recommend you get the Steve's Gunz DVD and follow it as it is well worth the money.

Unless you're involved in the cowboy action shooting sport the rifles are usually slick enough for hunting after a good clean up & de-burring followed by lubrication with a high quality machine or gun oil.

I'm assuming a bit here since I don't own nor handled a Ranch Hand so take it for what it is worth. Two things that can be improved on is the magazine follower which is plastic on the 92 and Rio Grande lever guns my guess is the metal ones for the 92 in 45 Colt should fit it fine. The are available from:
http://store.stevesgunz.com/index.php?m ... sgfenvt7t2
http://www.thesmithshop.com/magfollow.html
Brownells and ebay also has them from time to time also.

The other item is if it has that silly safety like the 92 then perhaps the stevegunz site would be a place to get a plug to replace it.
