I'm looking for a single point sling and would like to hear/see what others have used. Thanks in advance!

Your best bet for a Ranch Hand is probably a saddle ring. I recall at least one string on this site regarding DIY saddle rings.

Yes, it has a saddle ring and that's what I'm planning to attach it to.

Oh, duh, sorry. I make my own slings from 1-1/4 nylon webbing and all the fixings from Strapworks.com. I see all sorts of pre-made single point slings that attach with metal snap hooks, but I'd be inclined to make my own using a plastic snap hook. I'd be concerned about a metal hook scratching the receiver or stock. 1-1/4 is the mil-spec standard, but fittings are rather limited for that size webbing. For a Ranch Hand, 1 inch might be just the ticket.

If you are crafting your own, Tandy Leather has everything you could possibly want--including plastic snap-hooks that are reported to be military-grade. I have not checked them out as yet.

A single point sling for the Ranch Hand has always seemed like a decent idea to me.

Good luck with your search.

I just picked up my .357 Ranch Hand today. I had a single point sling and it is a great combo. It is especially handing for aiming; as you can use the tension of the sling to get a really good purchase on the firearm.

Okstatefan-what kind of single point sling did you get and where did you purchase it? I may end up making my own but would like to hear about yours. Thanks!

Ps...Go Pokes!

Sorry for the late reply, we were out of town for almost a month on vacation. When we returned, I had a family illness that kept me off the forums.

I really don't remember what it is or where I got it, but it was quite cheap <$10. I had originally bought it to see if I would like a single point on an AR15. I didn't. It stayed in a box for a couple of years until I tried it on the Ranch Hand. I probably got it on Amazon, Brownell's, or Midway USA...

Now that I've actually tried it at the range a couple of times, I will be getting something of a bit better quality. I may do some shopping around this coming weekend to see what is available. I'll post back with what I order and initial impressions.

Someone gave me a cheap one once. I didn't like how it adjusted. I sold it and bought a previous generation (G2?) Magpul single and I like it a lot.

Thanks for the update. I'm trying to find a single point without the elastic band so there isn't any stretch as well as it not having a metal clip that can scratch the receiver.
