And then do a SBR with it.
Maybe 44 mag for the caliber.
<snip>
The .44 Mag is a well respected Carbine round for sure!
And in a 92 has the added benefit of .44 Special as an alternate loading!

When I had my Browning B-92 in .44 Mag, I thought about buying a spare Cartridge Lifter, and modifying it so I could run .44 Russian and .44 Special, back in my CAS days... but never got around to it!

According to reviews... much like cookies, the product size has been reduced.
One reviewer claimed two pads were needed to accomplish work, and wore out quickly?!
I'm on my third or forth project with the first pad out of the package. First was a Benelli barrel retrieved from a flooded (sunken) Silverado 2500. They are Scotch Brite brand like this ----> Scotch Brite Copper. I used "chore boy" for reference of the style.

thinking about loading up small game loads with 44 russian brass.
That way I wont get them confused with the 44 mag, my eyesight isnt what it use to be.
but would have to load them sharps style in the 92.

You might try contacting Steve's Gunz to see if he has any ideas to temporarily convert your 92 between .44 Mag - .44 Special Hunting... and .44 Special - .44 Russian Plinking configurations.

My working theory is that it would require swapping the Carrier and Cartridge Guides with modified parts for the shorter cartridges.

The Cartridge Lifter would need a longer Carrier Stop so the magazine cut-off works correctly.
The Cartridge Guides would need the Rim Clearance Grooves closer to the Breech.

That is only theory, I never actually made such a conversion.
I'm going by Winchester parts I had from Australia to convert a 30-30 Model 94 to .44 Mag.
It was a barrel, Carrier, and Cartridge Guides.

Just a quick question..

What would be an incentive for Rossi to bring the Ranch Hand back into production?

Two options I think would be worth consideration:
1) a more dimensionally correct rendition of the original Mare's Leg TV guns, as has been done by Steve's Gunz modification of stock Ranch Hands.
2) Take-Down versions of both their 92 and Ranch Hand Lines.

By the way... Ruger has adopted the Take-Down Pistol idea for their Charger line.
